Wyrmwood Tabletop Tiles Game Trays

Created by Wyrmwood Gaming

Tabletop Tile Component Organizers are a brand new, modular system from Wyrmwood to help organize and enhance your game night. Designed with both board games and RPGs in mind, there's options for every gamer and game group, and the modular nature of the system makes it easy to choose the best configuration for your needs. Magnets installed on each side of a Tabletop Tile organizer allow it to connect to others and be removed or re-positioned at any time. Posts allow Tabletop Tile organizers to be stacked and nested for easy storage. The cups are also color-coded to mark the "north" side of each tile for proper magnet orientation on the table. Integrated coasters on the underside of most Tiles means that even when you're not gaming, your Tabletop Tile component organizers will continue to earn their place on your table. Each Tabletop Tile game organizer is available in our beautiful array of domestic and exotic hardwoods. You can choose a different wood for each Tile component organizer you order, or opt for a matched set. Can't decide? Love variety? Choose "Roll The Dice" on any product to receive the item in a randomly chosen wood (Cherry price and up)! If ordering multiple Roll The Dice items, they're guaranteed to be different woods! Say goodbye to your messy game table. Order your Tabletop Tile component organizers today!

about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 05, 2019 at 09:51:13 PM

Hello, everyone!

We hope you're all having a great April so far, and weren't taken in by too many April Fools' Day pranks.

We wanted to open with the usual information concerning the newly available woods, so let's dive right in.

Unlocked Woods

Here are the latest unlocked stretch goal woods!

Centrolobium microchaete
Centrolobium microchaete

Canarywood is, as you might expect, a lovely yellow-gold with stripes of red or orange. Some pieces can even appear rainbow-colored. Canarywood is also said to have desirable acoustic properties; only fitting for a wood named after a songbird.

Dalbergia cearensis
Dalbergia cearensis

A true Rosewood, Kingwood is one of the rarer and more striking Rosewoods we offer. With its distinctive grain and deep coloration, Kingwood was favored by a series of French Kings (Louis XIV and Loius XV) who commissioned many pieces of royal furniture using it. During the 17th century Kingwood was the most expensive and exclusive of woods used in the finest pieces of furniture, hence its name.

Exploring the Caster Tile

Here's an in depth look at the Caster Tile, since this tile generates a fair number of questions due to its complexity.  Enjoy!

Update #2: Reviews are in! New stretch goal woods and more!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 09:46:54 PM

Hey everyone!

Thank you for all of your amazing support in these early days.  You've managed to crush another stretch goal, and you know what that means - wood unlocks!  Let's see what we've got available now!

Unlocked Woods

Here are the latest unlocked stretch goal woods!

Brosimum Paraense
Brosimum Paraense

Very hard and very crisp, Bloodwood is one of the densest, hardest, most ornery woods we offer. Prone to tear-out and revealing all blemishes, it’s among the most challenging woods in our lineup. As with many dark exotics, we recommend keeping Bloodwood away from direct sunlight, as UV rays can diminish the rich, dark color.

Juglans Hindsii
Juglans Hindsii

A highly figured and colorful relative of Black Walnut, swirls of red and green occasionally play across the surface of Claro Walnut, and it often features figure and mottling. A highly ornamental wood, it is often used for gunstocks and knife handles.

Life Siphon

From the creators of Dragoon, Lay Waste Games, comes LIFE SIPHON: a combat strategy game for 2-4 players in the role of cursed humans, battling underground.

Update 1: FUNDED! Stretch Goals UNLOCKED! Thank You!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 08:54:31 PM

Hey everybody!  Sorry for the radio silence thus far - we've been so busy we neglected to actually send out this update!

Here we are, only a couple days into the campaign, and we've blown past our initial funding goal.  We're thrilled that so many of you are as excited about bringing Tabletop Tiles to life as we are!

We wanted to take a moment to thank you, first and foremost.  But a picture explains it better than our words ever could...

Your support gives all of us the opportunity to do what we love day in and day out, and keep doing work we believe in, for a community we love.  Thank you for making that possible!

Unlocked Woods

You've already unlocked several of our stretch goal woods!

Khaya ivorensis
Khaya ivorensis

Mahogany is the name for a group of woods, hailing from the tropics and known for their easy working, consistent grain, and the deep rich brown they attain as they age. Mahogany, like maple or oak, comes in many varieties; it can be difficult to know exactly which type each piece may be. The quintessential fine furniture wood, it takes handwork and carving wonderfully and polishes, stains and finishes like a dream.

Juniperus Virginiana
Juniperus Virginiana

Aromatic Cedar gets its name from its pleasing signature scent. Cedar is one of the softest, smoothest woods we offer, and it takes a close-to-the-wood finish wonderfully.

Guibourtia arnoldiana

Bubinga is a heavy, dense tropical wood, ranging in color from deep pinkish red to brilliant brown-red. As with most red-toned woods, it is UV sensitive, so avoiding direct sunlight is best. Diverse in appearance, bubinga often has interesting, chaotic grain variations and shimmer. An excellent choice for representing chaos, as well as passion, anger, or other strong emotions.

Berlinia spp.
Berlinia spp.

A newcomer to our shop, Ebiara or Red Zebrawood shares much in common with Wyrmwood stable Zebrawood.  The two woods are, in fact, related, which is not necessarily the case with woods that share trade name similarities.

Swartzia cubensis
Swartzia cubensis

Katalox possesses amazing strength characteristics, and is among the strongest and stiffest woods in the world. Because of its dark uniform appearance it is sometimes referred to as Mexican Ebony. It is similar in working properties to Purpleheart, another tough and resilient tropical wood.

Cordia Dodecandra
Cordia Dodecandra

A close relative of Bocote, Ziricote has more swirls in its grain and is overall darker than its cousin. It is a rare shrub whose small stature limits the use of Ziricote to mostly decorative applications – and high quality gaming accessories, where it excels.

Common Questions

We'll be adding commonly asked questions to the FAQ on the page as they come up.  But so far, there are already a few we felt we should touch on.  Here they are, in no particular order:

Q) How do you know what we're pledging for?

A) We'll be utilizing BackerKit as we have in our prior campaigns.  For you Kickstarter veterans, you may already know what that means, but if you're new to the platform, BackerKit is what's called a "pledge management" system.

The way it works is simple: after the campaign ends in 30 days, you'll get an invitation to fill out a survey on BackerKit.  All of your pledge information will be imported from Kickstarter automatically, and you'll be able to choose exactly which items you wanted to pledge for, and even add more if you like.  You'll then finalize your order, settle up any balance (including final shipping), and submit, and you're done!

After that comes the hard part... waiting for fulfillment to begin! :)

Q) Can I change my pledge if I decide I want a different wood, or more Tabletop Tiles?

A) Yes! You can change your pledge freely during the campaign, whenever you like.  Your pledge is final only when the Kickstarter closes.  At that point, your pledge is locked in.  You'll make your choices in BackerKit, though you can add additional funds there, too, if you like (as explained above).

Q) How does Roll The Dice work?

A) Roll The Dice is our name for a fun, easy pledge option we like to offer.  To pledge for a Roll The Dice item, simply pledge the listed amount for the items you'd like - the prices are equivalent to Cherry, as noted in the list of wood options on the campaign page.  If you pledge for a Roll The Dice item, you'll receive that item in a randomly selected wood.  There are a list of woods that will be utilized on the campaign page, with approximate odds for each, but they include most woods priced at Cherry level or above - so you're guaranteed a great value, and there's literally no way to lose!

But while we love Roll The Dice, and lots of our fans, do, too, it isn't for everyone.  Please bear in mind a few things before selecting a Roll The Dice item:

  •  1) Roll The Dice results are random, and can be any of the woods on the "odds" list.  If you have strong preferences - for example, if you really like dark woods but dislike lighter toned varieties, or if you love woods with character, or are interested in only colorful woods - Roll The Dice is probably not the best option for you.  You should check out the full lineup on the bottom of the campaign page, and choose a wood you're confident you'll love.  If you need some help with that, we'd be happy to see if we can suggest a match.  Just shoot us a message right here on Kickstarter.  And remember, if you really don't like something you get from us, just reach out - you're always covered by our Craftsman's Promise. :)
  •  2) Roll The Dice components will not match.  In this campaign, each RTD item in your order will be chosen independently.  With so many Tile options, we realized we simply couldn't guarantee that every possible combination of RTD items would be available in the same wood, in a backer's desired quantity - so we decided to mix it up- literally!  If you pledge for multiple RTD items, every single one will be a different, unique wood.  We love wood variety, as you can see from our campaign page, and if you do, too, you'll love a Roll The Dice set of Tabletop Tiles.  We're really excited about this option, and we think it's a fun addition to the campaign.
  •  3) Roll The Dice results are a mystery - even to us!  In the past, backers have requested to know what their results were ahead of time for various reasons.  This time around, for the same reasons mentioned above, we will be unable to determine that until fulfillment actually occurs - meaning we'll find out when we pull and pack your order, and you'll find out when you open it!

Q) The Caster Tile: where do you store the ball bearings when not using it?  And, hey, shouldn't there be 3 spell slots at 5th level on the Caster Tile?  There are only two!

A) Each Caster Tile will come with a small velvet pouch, in which will reside the ball bearings and your magnetic wand.  We recommend keeping them inside of it when not in use.

As to the spell slots - you got us!  Indeed, there should be three slots for fifth level spells.  We made this error on the initial prototypes, but we will correct this on the final versions (still, in the meantime, we will occupy ourselves by feeling shame as a bonus action).

Q) Can any of the Tiles be used to store minis or dice when not in use?

A) Some people have wondered if they could store a mini, set of dice, or other small items inside any of the Tabletop Tiles when they were stacked.  This is not likely to be possible, due to the fact that Tabletop Tiles are rather slim, at just 5/8" in thickness.  Even if you have something small enough, we don't recommend using Tabletop Tiles in this way.  While the posts will ensure you can neatly stack your Tiles, they don't "lock" and aren't designed to keep securely closed in all circumstances, and if you tried to stack one upside down on top of another, to create a larger storage space, there would be nothing at all holding them together.

Luckily, we do have solutions for beautifully and securely holding and transporting dice and minis: our Dice Vaults and Hero Vaults, which feature sturdy magnetic closures, available for order at wyrmwoodgaming.com! :)

What's Next?

It's only the opening days, but we've already seen an amazing outpouring of support - over $100,000 in pledges, more than 900 backers, and a ton of enthusiasm.  We'll be doing our best to make the campaign fun and engaging, so you can expect regular updates and fun content.  So stay tuned - it's going to be quite a ride.  And we couldn't be more grateful to have you joining us.
